The green island, the paradise of the Mediterranean
Starting from € 1500.00
3 hours of navigation
Formed as a result of several eruptions, it is protected by a mild climate, even in winter periods, and its volcanic nature makes it one of the major thermal centers in Europe.
Major among the Parthenopean islands, it is located in the Gulf of Naples, in a privileged geographical position and is divided into six municipalities, each characterized by a different dialect. Due to the beauty of its landscape, its enchanting beaches, pine forests, vineyards, chestnut and citrus groves, and the particular coloring of the local stone, it has been called "THE GREEN ISLAND."
A short distance from the islands of Procida and Vivara, it is the third largest Italian island by population and the eighth largest by area, famous not only for the aforementioned thermal baths but also and above all for the Aragonese Castle, bucolic beaches and its long history that make it an important destination for international tourism.
Speaking of beaches, that of Citara, one of the most beautiful in all of Ischia, is also famous for a curious legend that has it that there, the goddess Venus mourned the death of her beloved Adonis, who was brutally killed by wild boars, and that it was from his tears that a new spring was thus born, called precisely Citara!
Today if we think of Ischia, we certainly do not think of snow, but it was not always so. Before major climate changes, it was not uncommon to see spectacular snowfalls. So if you go into the Falanga forest, a chestnut grove at the foot of Mount Epomeo, you can come across the "snow pits," holes dug to collect the snow and hail of the winter months and bring them down to the valley during the warm season to be sold on the beaches.
In addition to the Beach of Citara and the Snow Pits, it is possible to visit and see Epomeo, a sloping block of green tuff, the result of the vertical thrust of an underwater magma chamber, and Poseidon's Flower, an extremely rare underwater flower with shades ranging from pink to orange that blooms underwater, from the floating fruits, called sea olives, that are carried by the current all along the coast!
Ischia is a magical island that cannot fail to remain in your eyes and heart so...all that remains is to get on the boat and go!
